FAQ

How does this game work?

Monsters appear on screen and you defeat them by playing the correct musical notes on your instrument. Each game mode focuses on different skills: notes, scales, chords, or ear training. Play quickly and accurately to survive and level up!

What is MIDI?

MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a protocol that lets electronic instruments communicate with computers. When you press a key on a MIDI keyboard, it sends a digital signal that the game reads instantly, no audio processing needed.

How do I connect a MIDI keyboard?

Plug your MIDI keyboard into your computer via USB. When you start the game, your browser will ask for permission to access MIDI devices. Click "Allow" and you're ready to play. Most USB MIDI keyboards work plug-and-play with no extra drivers needed.

Can I sing, or play acoustic guitar, violin, etc.?

Yes! The game supports live microphone input for any instrument or voice. Click "Allow" when your browser asks for microphone access. The game uses pitch detection to identify the notes you play or sing in real time. For the most accurate detections, try to play notes clearly and one at a time.

What's the difference between MIDI and microphone mode?

MIDI mode reads digital signals directly from your keyboard — it's instant and 100% precise. Microphone mode uses pitch detection on your audio input; it works with any instrument but may have a slight delay and some missed detections. For the best experience, use MIDI.

What browsers are supported?

This game works best in Chrome, Brave, or Firefox browser. MIDI device support requires the Web MIDI API, which does not work with Safari browser. Microphone mode works in all major browsers.

Do I need any special equipment?

No special equipment required! You can use microphone mode with just your computer or phone's built-in mic. For the best experience, I recommend a USB MIDI keyboard (any budget option works) or an external microphone for acoustic instruments.

Does the game work on phones / mobile devices?

Microphone mode works on mobile devices, but MIDI mode does not currently work. For the best experience, please play on a laptop or desktop computer.

I'm having trouble — help!

Try these steps:

  2. Check your browser settings and enable access to your MIDI device or microphone
  3. If using MIDI, try unplugging and replugging your keyboard
  4. Try refreshing the page
